Hybrasil’s next release is a big one: it features a secret weapon that has been huge for the Irish producer over the past couple of years, as well as featuring heavily in Richie Hawtin sets around the world, plus two more vinyl only tunes.
The release comes on his own self-titled label and follows other successes on labels like Break New Soil, Kraftek & Intacto.
The track in question is Sentinel, available here for the first time. It’s seven-plus minutes of deeply rooted, rolling techno. The vast rubber drums are run through with icy hi-hats and spooky synths bring plenty of spine-tingling atmosphere to the groove. It’s a hypnotic cut with sombreness in the chords and is easy to see why its been such a weapon.
The other cut is K2-3d, a mysterious and evocative techno track with sci-fi melodies above hulking great drums. It’s one that keeps you locked as it evolves and despite being so spacious and uncultured, it makes a real mark.
Then come vinyl only efforts 80db, a big and bouncy number with icy hi-hats and rumbling bass getting you up on your toes and keeping you there. It’s a full flavour number that will warm through any crowd, while Dam Buster is a dubbed out and stripped back dub techno tune with hulking kick drums and deft percussion. It’s the sort of irresistible groove that is designed for intimate spaces and is another winner.
These are four more terrific tracks from this ever more essential techno talent.
