UMEK Drops New EP ‘Once Again’

The two track EP is out now via his record label, 1605.

UMEK has been one of the most consistent techno producers of the last few years, and 2022 was another big year for him.

Not taking his foot off the gas, UMEK launches into 2023 with a massive two-track release titled the ‘Once Again’ EP.

His past releases on record labels such as Terminal M, Tronic, Filth On Acid and Suara mean UMEK has built an impressive catalogue of releases, but the jewel in the crown is his own record label 1605.

1605 has grown to become one of techno’s most respected record labels and not only is it a platform for UMEK to release his own music, it is also a springboard that has helped launch the careers of future stars such as Mha iri and Sam WOLFE.

This two-track release is another whopper with UMEK’s brutal percussion and acid-tinged synth lines taking centre stage. The title track also features a timeless vocal sample that has been used in many an anthemic track.

Alongside its distinctive vocals, “Once Again” also has a pulsating bass synth and a heavy sub-bass that provide a bedrock for the fast-flowing drum rhythms and brooding atmosphere to stage their ecstatic assault. “Constantly Monitored” closes out the EP by brightening the mood with its uplifting lead synths that contrast with the dark atmospherics and thundering bass frequencies that provide ominous tension.
