Radio Slave Remixes Lou Hayter’s ‘Check it’

The release is forthcoming on Fatboy Slim’s Skint Records.

Radio Slave is the label owner of Rekids and has featured on other imprints ranging from Crosstown Rebels to MUTE.

Lou Hayter’s original electro and dance-pop nugget ‘Check It’ has proven a big hit since its release in September; now, it gets stylishly reworked by the one and only Radio Slave.

Radio Slave aka Matt Edwards has long been at the heart of the underground from his base in Berlin, with his Rekids label a firm favourite. His productions are never less than compelling, designed to fuel small and sweaty basements and vast festival main stages. He has already dropped two big EPs of his own this year and now serves up one of his incomparable remix packages.

The main remix is a slow-burning 13-minute epic. It builds with echoing riffs ringing out over rolling drums and distant cosmic pads. There is plenty of room to get lost amongst the spine-tingling vocals and dubbed-out chords in this most poised and hypnotic track. The dub is even more stripped back and primed for early evening warm-ups. It’s a cavernous affair that allows the long-tailed pads and warming solar winds to draw you in. A shorter edit is included and distils everything down to four minutes of atmospheric perfection.

These tracks show a different but equally compelling side to Radio Slave and bring new life to Hayter’s excellent ‘Check it’.
