Germany plans to test the viability of running large scale events with a 15,000-person festival.
‘German ’ will be the first festival to legally run in Germany since the start of the pandemic, and it will run from the 19th to 22nd of August 2021.
Being held at an open-air location in Pütnitz near Rostock, the event is being run in conjunction with Germany’s federal authorities, who will be monitoring for any outbreaks of COVID-19 that could be linked to the festival.
The State Office for Health and Social Affairs, plus the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will be on-site, and investigating what health and safety restrictions are best for containing the spread of COVID-19.
On the topic of health and safety, the event’s website states: “We all want to celebrate, dance, feel together again the zest for life in freedom, completely unbiased and carefree. (…) As organizers, we hope to go a step further and prove that there are concepts that make culture possible again.”
Those planning to attend the event must already be fully vaccinated or have recovered from a COVID-19 infection (meaning the body has made natural antibodies), then once inside the site of the event, there will be no restrictions.
Everyone else will need to do PCR test for COVID-19, which of course must be negative. On the third day of the festival, another test must be carried out. Anyone found positive, will be asked to leave and given a full refund of the ticket cost.
There will be a wide selection of music at the Pangea Festival that includes genres such as electro, hip-hop, R’n’B, indie, alternative, world music, soul, jazz, funk and experimental.
House and techno along with other electronic genres will be part of the schedule with headline DJs including the likes of Robag Wruhme.
Dancing is allowed providing people either wear a mask or leave enough space for safe social distancing.
Tickets will be available from 6 June 2021, and you can pre-registration HERE.
