Durtysoxxx’s infectious driving techno has really been resonating with us for a while here at C-U. We get the low down from the in form producer and label boss.

We understand Anna V formed Voltage Records as a sub label underneath your Funk N Deep label, which we’re really loving right now btw. How did you two meet and who asked who to team up on this project?

It was a mutual thing if I recall… we met after I signed her on my label earlier this year. Then we did a label showcase at Steam together and finally met in person. Conversations came up about her starting a label and I did my best to provide her with some guidance, which then came the idea of her launching Voltage as a sub label for Funk’n Deep. She’s killing it right now as an artist and label owner. I feel she will take Voltage and make it a brand everyone in the scene will recognise.

We know Voltage is all about showcasing new talent. Which other DJs or producers are you tipping for big things right now?

Some of my favs right now are Agent Orange, DJ Preston, The Reactivitz, Barbuto, Atroxx, Sama, to name a few…

Talk to us about your latest release on the label and inspiration behind it?

This is my 2nd collab with Dino Maggiorana, who is a new name, but has been in the industry for a long time under the moniker Phunk Investigation. It’s really easy to work on music when you partner up with an artist with as many talents as him. We just started with a couple ideas and everything else just flowed naturally.

What’s the music scene like where you’re based and how often are you playing?

I’m based in the USA and I can say it’s been a challenge the past couple years for the underground scene being that most clubs are very commercial, but techno is definitely growing here. I am playing anywhere from 2-5 gigs a month recently.

We understand you run the label Funk n Deep, so can you tell us how it differs to Voltage?

Funk’n Deep and Voltage are very similar in my opinion. We both are not limited to one specific sound. We sign tracks from deep and groovy to melodic and big room. We’ve got huge releases forthcoming on both labels so you will get to hear the various styles I’ve mentioned.

We received a promo for your forthcoming release on Boris’ Transmit Records which is another of our favourite techno labels. How long have you known him?

Not too long, but I’ve been a big fan of Boris and his label for years. My first release on his label was a collab with The Reactivitz last year on his Wind Vol 2 VA.

Tell us about your DJ setup when you play?

I play with Traktor. My preferred setup is DJM-900NXS with Traktor X1s.

What’s been your biggest achievement to date?

In the past year, I’ve had a chance to remix some incredible artists, but the one that stands out the most would be for Umek on his label 1605. It’s not everyday you get a chance to remix a legend such as Umek. He’s been someone I’ve looked up to for a very long time and was truly an honour for this opportunity.

What can we expect from you soon?

I have some nice releases forthcoming on Funk’n Deep, Transmit, Phobiq, Respekt, and Bitten. And I’m also planning some showcases in Costa Rica, NY, Miami, LA, and Amsterdam which i’m really looking forward to. I’m also playing with Pig and Dan at Output in New York later this month – which is going to be off the hook!
