Could “testFRWD DIY” be what’s needed to get clubs open again?

Planned to help with the opening of music, sports and tourism sectors, testFRWD has created a rapid testing kit that’s state-of-the-art.

Its PCR test results are an impressive 99.5% sensitivity and 99% specificity in detecting COVID-19 cases, which means it gives a high standard of accurate results.

The Austria-based company behind the test has already begun distributing the test kits to some European countries including Spain, Germany, Portugal and now the UK.

Tests work by using a mouthwash that is held in the mouth for 60 seconds. What’s spat out is tested to give the result, which means it’s simple to use, and doesn’t cause any pain or discomfort.

It has already been CE-certified in compliance with EU plus WHO regulations and guidelines. The main goal of the product is to guarantee a “non-infectious time window of 72 hours” for anyone whose results come back negative.

It’s different from other tests that use nasal and throat swabs. One of its main benefits is that results with this are accurate without the need for a sterile testing environment, and it requires no prior training to administer it.

Accompanying the test is an app that uses photo ID recognition to verify test results, meaning it can effectively be used as a type of ‘health passport’ for gaining access to events.

testFRWD has stated that data will be treated confidentially and stored only for a maximum of 14 days so it can issue the certification of being COVID-free.
