Berlin Is Relaxing Some Restrictions This Weekend

Starting on June 18th, outdoor music events with dancing will have a capacity of 250 people.

Berlin’s clubbing restrictions are being relaxed this Friday.

Starting from June 18th, outdoor music events with dancing will be allowed up to a capacity of 250 people, so long as those in attendance are able to present a recent negative COVID-19 test, and also wear a face mask when not seated. Although contact restrictions will still remain in effect, which means up to ten people from five different households will be able to attend as a group.

In other German locations such as Brandenburg, outdoor music events with dancing will allow 1,000 people without restrictions. Dietmar Woidke is Brandenburg’s federal state prime minister, yesterday he announced that indoor events under his area of jurisdiction will require masks and additional testing. There is also a venue capacity rule that means ”no more than one guest per ten square meters” will be allowed.

Authorities in Berlin have also made the decision to relax a number of the rules in their area of jurisdiction, including new rules for mask-wearing in outdoor areas, and the removal of the midnight-to-5 AM alcohol ban on alcohol sales and consumption in pubs and restaurants.

As of today (June 16th), Berlin has had a seven-day infection rate of 12.2 cases per 100,000 people, which is down from the previous day’s infection rate of 13.6. Around 180,000 COVID-19 cases have been logged in the capital since the beginning of the pandemic.

You can find the full list of Berlin’s new restriction in the Berliner Zeitung.
