Tomorrowland has revealed an aftermovie for its virtual festival ‘Around The World’ which replaced 2021’s in-person event.
The world-renowned festival would usually take place in Belgium, but was forced to cancel in 2020 due to the pandemic. It had looked like it would be going ahead in 2021 until it was forced to cancel in June due to local government restrictions.
Last year, Tomorrowland launched its official online festival Around The World, and following its overwhelming success, they decided to run it again this year. The online streams totalled over 35 hours of music and featured sets from a selection of the world’s top DJs covering genres from Hardstyle to Deep House.
Some of the DJs who preformed sets included the likes of Armin van Buuren, Amelie Lens, Charlotte de Witte, Afrojack, Tale Of Us and Kölsch.
The 9-minute aftermovie showcases some of the stunning visuals from the virtual arenas inside the online festival world, they called Pāpiliōnem, and is soundtracked by music from Nicky Romero, Mind Against and Kölsch, among others.
Sets from the event remained online for two weeks after the performances, and due to its popularity, there seems potential that they might decide to run the virtual festival again next year. Hopefully there will also be an in-person Tomorrowland event, but that doesn’t mean they won’t also run the online festival as well.
