Onur Ozman is a talented Swiss artist who has earned a reputation for producing forward-thinking tracks with analogue sounds and jazzy grooves.

His latest offering comes via Canadian label Suleiman, and it’s a five-track release that fuses broken beats with immersive atmospherics and trippy synth lines.

Fans of Onur Ozman will already be familiar with his releases on other imprints ranging from Hottrax to Constant Circles, and this new release showcases him at his very finest.

Opening with the off-kilter rhythms of “New Era”, the EP opens with an experimental cut that certainly grabs your attention. At times it sounds like everything has fallen out of time, but this is clearly the artistic intention for the quirky track.

Track two “Counter” is the first of the dance floor focused cuts, and its shuffling rhythms and trippy vocal stabs are rich with jazzy improvisation and captivating drum fills.

Third on the EP is “Fermi Paradox” which blends deep pads with a looped drum break and some ethereal textures that send shivers down your spine, while the rough and tumble percussion creates a raw energy that’s perfect for dancing too.

Things get a little darker with track four “Necropolis” which focuses on a seedy vocal sample and retro style samples nestled upon the ominous vibe of a minimal backing track with a prominent bassline.

Closing out the release are the dusty chords and swelling warmth of “New Girl” that switches from a four-to-the-floor to a broken beat for a transition, which really shifts the vibe of this cut that unfolds with both warmth and intensity.
