With Tone Depth having new music out now on Strange Town Recordings, we take a look at his favourite tracks of the moment in the latest edition of What’s In Your Box?

1. Echonomist, Thodoris Triantafilou – Comodia (Original Mix) (Connaisseur Recordings)

One of the biggest musical influences in my life is Jean Michel-Jarre. This track takes me in to that vibe with the beautiful synth work complimented by a really organic shuffling techy beat that drives perfectly. Definitely a great epic journey whether you listen to this at home or play it in a set.

2. Kiko – Grenoble (Secret Cinema & Egbert Remix) (Noir Music)

“All 3 producers involved with this release are all top producers who’s productions I love to play. Secret Cinema and Egbert add their signature in a really nice balanced way with their take on Kiko’s original. Great tension builds over powerfull beats in this track that work great on the dance floor.”

3. Nicholas Masseyeff – Fug 224 (Original Mix) (Systematic Recordings)

“The beats in this one are just banging and I love the drawn out pitched synths in the breakdown. The big cavernous feel to this track works amazing in a big room and the drop never fails to get the crowd going off.” 

4. David Grahna ft. Flowers & Sea Creatures (Tone Depth Remix) (Strange Town Recordings)

“This was a fun Remix to do and probably the first one I’ve ever done in 3/4 timing. I’m a guitarist so I always like hearing them paired with cool vocals and Grahams signature falsetto work on this one pulled me in right away.” 

5. Andhim – Tosch feat. Piper Davis (Original Mix) (Superfriends Records)

“I’ve always liked Andhim productions. Consistently beautiful stuff coming from these guys and paired with Piper’s angelic yet dark vocals it’s just a great combo that’s melancholic and interesting. This is one I like to fit into certain special moments and has a really nice uplifting and happy vibe to it. Also one I enjoy playing out just as much as listening at home or in the car.”

6. Joeski – Dub Music (Original Mix) (Poker Flat Recordings)

“Joeski is one of my favourite producers when it comes to hypnotic dark house beats with a subtle tribal twist that’s just to my tastes. The groove on this is just dark, dubby and sexy. With the vocal nod to reggae and dub fitting in just right, this is one I enjoy to play in a big dark room.”

7. Eagles & Butterflies – X (Original Mix) (Innervisions)

“X” is one of those tracks I find I’m pulling out quite a lot when I’m playing peak time. It fits well in to my sets and crosses boundaries since it works well in contrast with anything from Progressive, Techno, Tech House and gives me flexibility to change direction in a set. The rolling drums and synth triggering on this one really sets the place on fire every time i drop it.”

8. Chiapet – Tick Tock (Robosonic Warehouse Remix) (Yoshitoshi)

“This classic track from Yoshitoshi was one of my favourites from back in the day that had high rotation in my sets when it first came out over a decade ago. I like this updated remix as it doesn’t stray to far from the classic but instead takes a tasteful modern sounding version of this classic. I always felt this track gave the vibe as if a pressure cooker was about to go off and was a great way to build tension in sets.”

9. Jerome Isma Ae & Alastor – Kubrick (Original Mix) (Jee Productions)

“My buddies Jerome & Alastor make some great peak time stormers and this one is the latest doing the rounds. The simple Arp on this one takes me on a space odyssey inspired by the awesome Stanley Kubrick giving the track it’s title. It’s a deep track that still has power in a big room at peak time and is always sure to get the dance floor moving.” 

10. Carl Craig – Sandstorms (Original Mix) (K7 Records)

“Sandstorms” is a classic track that I love to drop still today when I want to start building my sets and prepare to take it up a notch. Carl is one of my all time favourite producers and his productions always have a specific electric halo to his textures, while his subtle swing grooves are always so unique, simple and addictive. This one is such a great tension builder that just creeps on you and the funky resonant synths solos in this really give a beautiful soul to this Detroit producers classic.”
