Sol Selectas has once again embarked on its summer journey of musical discovery.
Summer Sol is an annual compilation that’s become a highlight in the music calendar, and the 2022 edition is no exception.
Summer Sol VII features tracks 26 tracks by artists from across the globe and along with a good number of Sol Selectas regulars, it also introduces some people who are new to the record label.
Sabo is the label owner, and as is tradition, he opens proceedings with one of his own tracks, which this year features the vocals of his partner Helia Jamali. Some of the other stand-out producers on the compilation include Goldcap, Yamil and Laroz.
Due to the amount of music, it’s hard to break down each track individually, but all of them are very high quality in terms of both their songwriting and production.
True to the trademark style of Sol Selectas, the main body of the release is organic house, but some of the tracks are downtempo electronica, and others are more Afro in style.
Embracing samples from a variety of different languages and instruments that are traditional to different cultures, the release mixes electronic sounds with live instrumentation either recorded live or sampled.
Glauco Di Mambro’s Hanyauku was a personal standout due to its uplifting synths and jovial vibe, but it’s impossible to pick a favourite.
