New Book Pays Homage To Daft Punk’s ‘Discovery’

The paperback publication explores the iconic album’s impact on electronic music.

Daft Punk’s album Discovery gets a deep dive in a new book that focuses on one of electronic music most influential releases.

The new book titled ‘Daft Punk’s Discovery: The Future Unfurled’ has been Authored by Ben Cardew who is an accomplished music journalist and writer.

Due for release in September 2021 the book uncovers the backstory and impact of Daft Punk’s most famous record.

In February of this year, it was unexpectedly announced that Daft Punk were splitting up after 28 years. Fans of the French duo were left saddened by the knowledge that there will be no more new music from them.

Discovery first came out in 2001, and ‘Random Access Memories’ released in 2013 was the last official release by Daft Punk.

Parts of the book had to be reworked after news of the duo’s split to ensure it was up to date and accurate. Published via Velocity Press, it includes more than 25 interviews including some previously unreleased interview material with Daft Punk themselves.

The official press description reads: “Daft Punk’s Discovery is a record that looked into the future and liked what it saw. An album that predicted the electronic music explosion, YouTube and the end of privacy, while dragging soft rock back into vogue.

Ben Cardew’s words pay tribute to a band that over the course of nearly three decades helped define electronic music and open it up to a global mainstream audience.

The books official page reads: “It’s a global view of Discovery as a cultural phenomenon, placing the album at the centre of celebrity culture, fan clubs, video, the music business, while also examining its profound musical impact.

Available in paperback and as an e-book, Daft Punk’s Discovery: The Future Unfurled will be available in September 2021. You can purchase it HERE.
