The latest release on Asymmetric Recordings finds label boss Lonya back in the spotlight with a brand new single.
The Russian born, Israel based artist last appeared on his home imprint well over a year ago with his ‘Judgement Day’ single released in August of 2015. More recently Lonya has been showcasing his music on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat imprint and Darkroom Dubs to great success. Now making his long awaited return to Asymmetric Lonya presents his latest studio creation ‘Righteousness’ alongside a remix from Wally Lopez.
Although Lonya has always been grouped with the more progressive minded artists his music output is actually quite diverse and sometimes miles away from those preconceptions. On ‘ Righteousness’ we get something much more techno inspired with a machine gun groove, clustered claps and an array of alien-like effects. Rough and rugged, the piece builds with unrelenting power and tension grows as a result. Looking to make the most of it, the main break adds drama two-fold with a killer drop and monstrous third act. Definitely one of Lonya’s most menacing creations to date and a peak time bomb no doubt.
The lone remix is provided by Wally Lopez who is making his first appearance on Asymmetric Recordings. The Spanish artist has a storied history in electronic music, dating back to the late nineties with releases on Weekend Records and his own La Factoria label. More recently Wally has been spotted on Glasgow Underground and Parquet Recordings where he teamed up with tech giant Third Son. Now making his much anticipated debut on Asymmetric he brings more of a tech house inspired vision to the track. The crunchy rhythmic core and electric nature is well maintained but the addition big stabs and a chunkier low end opens it up for broader club play perhaps. A monstrous remix and likely one of Wally’s most sought after productions this year. Superb music from Lonya and Asymmetric Recordings once again. Highly Recommended.
