Fatboy Slim’s ‘Star 69’ is one of the iconic DJ’s most recognisable classics.
Fatboy Slim releases a new remix of the iconic noughties track ‘Star 69’ with Dutch duo Shermanology. Out now via Fatboy Slim’s record label Skint, it marks 20 years since its original release.
Bringing in a dynamic blend of tech house, Shermanology is a brother and sister duo consisting of Andy and Dorothy Sherman. They have released their music on labels ranging from Defected to Hot Creations.
Shermanology have skillfully intertwined the timeless lyrics of ‘Star 69’ with a groove consisting of a hypnotic baseline with squelchy tones, relentless floor-to-floor kick rhythm and chunky percussion layered over looped sections of the original’s iconic vocals sample. The track is a catchy club banger that breathes fresh life into an anthemic classic.
The original of ‘Star 69’ is taken from Fatboy Slim’s third album ‘Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars”. The track has been sampled by some of the biggest artists in music, including popstars such as Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj. The vocal was originally released on the B-side as an acapella, and there have also been various underground remixes both official and unofficial.
This new version made by Shermanology is an official remix that has the personal seal of approval from Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim.
