Dropping his first full solo release on the label, LiveJam co-owner EMG returns with a raw, thudding three-tracker titled ‘Freedom’ this October.
Berlin-based producer EMG has been running LiveJam Records for the best part of a decade, not to mention its various sub-labels like Relative, Experiential Learning and Warm Sounds, as well as making appearances via respected platforms such as The Trilogy Tapes and Berceuse Heroique. However, until now the enigmatic producer has never contributed a full solo release to his own LiveJam imprint – he now presents three robust and earthy cuts in ‘Freedom’.
Rattling drums and warm bass lay the foundation for ‘Music’ as subtle melodies develop, leading into powerful crashes and scintillating synths. ‘Bright’ then initiates with precise percussion and vocals that whisper its title whilst a menacing sawing sound joins an echoing voice and twisted effects. Rounding things off, ‘Turbine 888’ marches forward using robust, reverberating kicks, murky atmospherics and various wonky components.
