Darksidevinyl and Kiberu are a pair of Afro house artists who are working together for the first time, and their new release is a three-track EP titled ‘Henaia’.
Out via the Earthly Delights record label, the release is a mix of tribal percussion and uplifting melodic synths that intertwine with the drums.
Although this is the first time that Darksidevinyl and Kiberu have teamed up in the studio, they are both solo producers with a respected reputation.
Darksidevinyl has Egyptian heritage, but currently lives in Austria. His upbeat tracks have found homes on record labels including MoBlack, Akbal Music and Go Deeva Records.
Kiberu is a Swiss artist whose solo style is a little more synth focused than Darksidevinyl, but he has released Afro house tracks via labels such as SP Recordings, Seed Recordings and Leisure Music Productions.
“Catava” opens the EP with its layers of organic percussion and fluttering synths that carry the groove as it builds towards the chaotic tension of the breakdown sections.
“Zulu” is a stripped-back track with a handful of chunky sounds that fill the speaker. The stomping percussion rhythms and tense synth line create a dark and compelling atmosphere.
The title track “Henaia” rounds off the release with its arpeggio synth line and stunning piano melody that adds poignant emotion to the track’s cosmic vibe.
