It’s reported the evet was well organised with bar and VIP area, and the police had bottles thrown at them as they entered.
This weekend police in Birmingham (UK) raided a nightclub full with about 150 people who had attended an illegal rave that broke COVID lockdown restrictions.
When the police entered the partygoers threw bottles at officers, and one police officer suffered a minor injury when a door suddenly burst open as people tried to flee. There is also a video with thermal imaging that captures some people trying to escape over the roof.
Police apparently issued £200 fines to about 70 people and the DJ playing at the event now faces a fine of £10,000.
Police said they had been tipped off to the location after taxis were seen dropping people off outside.
In a statement, Assistant Chief Constable Chris Todd said “It’s unacceptable that our officers came under attack, and that one suffered a minor injury, just for doing their job and enforcing laws that are in place to keep us all safe.
While there’s much to be hopeful of in terms of the rollout of coronavirus vaccines, people must remember that we are still in lockdown and the virus is still a real threat to communities across the West Midlands.
We thank those people who are supporting our efforts to keep the public safe by sticking to the rules and staying home. They are saving lives.”
