Luis Miranda drops a raw and driving techno EP via Kaiserdisco’s record label KD RAW.
Originally from Spain but currently living in America, Luis Miranda is based in Los Angeles where he is well known within the city’s thriving techno scene. An accomplished DJ who plays regularly in both America and Europe, Luis Miranda’s style fuses hypnotic synths and brutal percussion.
This EP titled “Morituri” is Luis Miranda’s second solo EP for KD RAW, and his music can also be heard on other respected techno labels ranging from Spartaque’s Codex to Sam Paganini’s JAM.
The three original tracks are also accompanied by a remix from Portugal’s DJ Dextro who is known for his pounding techno productions on labels including UNCAGE, Suara and Naked Lunch.
Opening the EP is the title track “Morituri” which has a rubbery synth line with mesmerising tones, and it’s layered with a rigid framework of bone rattling percussion. It also has a short vocal section making reference to his home city of Los Angeles.
“Tarumba” is second on the EP and it lifts the energy with a frantic synth line and punishing clap that creates a fast-paced groove with upbeat energy. “Tikis Mikis” has prominent vocal stabs and muted synth chords that are underpinned by the thrashing percussion rhythms.
DJ Dextro closes the release with a remix of “Tikis Mikis” that chunks up the original with a beefed-up kick drum and enriched synth stabs.
