Eagles & Butterflies Drops New Single ‘Retropolis’

The track is out now via Gerd Janson’s record label, Running Back.

Eagles & Butterflies is known for releases on labels ranging from Innervisions to Bedrock.

Out today, UK-based artist Eagles & Butterflies has unveiled the brand-new single ‘Retropolis’, and it’s an infectious, dancefloor-focused electro-synth jam.

Retropolis pairs robotic synths with catchy euro-disco energy. That its working title was Italo should tell you all you need to know. Suitable for big rooms, major moments, minor miracles and sophisticated car chase scenes alike.

The track will feature on his forthcoming EP, out 14th October on Gerd Janson’s Running Back label, with part 2 EP set to drop in early 2023. There will be a launch party at Muting the Noise in Berlin on 13th October. Elsewhere, he has just released a Feel My Bicep mix, and is releasing remixes from Jennifer Cardini, Hiver and Chinaski on his label Art Imitating Life.

“‘Retropolis’ for me is the past meets the future,” Eagles & Butterflies explains. “I love influences and technology from the past and making music that sounds like it could be from for a time yet to arrive. Set for release on my favourite label, Running Back, I can’t wait for people to hear both part one and part two and take a trip to Retropolis.”

Defying genre and demonstrating natural creative talent, Eagles & Butterflies is an artist who is known for continually pushing the sonic boundaries. From early beginnings as Mixmag’s ‘Breakthrough Act of the Year’ to the creation of his own label Art Imitating Life, an innate sense of musicality and a unique approach to music making has been at the core. Across a storied career, his output has found its way onto some of dance music’s most revered labels, including Permanent Vacation, Innervisions and Life & Death. On the DJ front he has performed regularly at fabric, played at iconic festivals Awakenings, Lost Village and Coachella, and has performed at Ibiza superclub DC10.
