Wipe The Needle Drops New EP ‘It’s My World Ya Heard’

The three track release is out via the highly influential Local Talk record label.

Wipe The Needle is a UK artist who recently dropped a new EP on the Local Talk record label.

“It’s My World Ya Heard” is the second part of a double release that in total features eight tracks, but this particular EP features three tracks.

Local Talk has quite an impressive back catalogue that stretches back over many years, and includes artists such as HNNY, Crackazat, Terrence Parker and Soulphiction.

This is the third Local Talk offering from Wipe The Needle including the previous part of this split release. He has also featured his music on other record labels including the likes of Defected.

It’s My World Ya Heard is the opening track on the EP, and its stabbing melody synths and namesake vocal sample are layered with a chunky kick drum. Its skipping beats and jackin’ rhythms are combined with a dazzling array of atmospheric textures.

Track two “Would Ya” has soothing chords and shuffling high-end percussion combined with fluttering synths and bumping low-end percussion. Infused with jazz and futuristic sounds, it’s got a jovial vibe that’s full of energy.

Closing out the release is “Fist of the North”, which is a title inspired by the tracks vocal sample that sounds like it could have come from an old kung fu movie. Its acid bassline and growling synths are combined with dusty chords, and it’s all sequenced into a broken beat groove that’s calling out to the dance floor.

An accomplished release on a respected record label, this EP is definitely one for the heads, and it will no doubt be at the front of many a DJ’s record box.
