Vinyl addicts and record collectors can now buy a scented candle that smells of their favourite pastime.
Anyone who is passionate about vinyl loves nothing more than hitting up the local record store to crate dig for classics and discover new releases of the day. Now those people can recreate that record store smell in their home with a new scented candle.
Made by online candle retailer DW Home, they describe their record store scented product as smelling of “pressed vinyl and warm woods” with “notes of sweet blossoms, hints of amber and soft fruit.” Some small record stores are in locations with few windows or poor air conditioning, so we are glad they didn’t try to make it too authentic, and add in the smell of body odour lol.
Jokes aside, it’s said that memories can be triggered by smells, and lots of us music fans have many fond memories of the local record store. Many people also have that awkward DJ friend who is incredibly hard to buy presents for, and this could have a fun novelty item for those instances.
The candle is available in both medium and large, with a burn time of 33 hours and 56 hours respectively. Prices start from $14.
There are also other companies making novelty candles for dance music fans. Earl of East last year released their Scents of Normality range that raised money for COVID-19 relief efforts. One of those candles was inspired by festivals with a description that reads “The Festival Candle is a floral haze of cut grass, burned skin, and sun-warmed cider, with just the merest shimmer of a distant portable toilet. Top notes of burger van and singed candyfloss bloom above an earthy bed of unwashed hair and dew-damp sleeping bag. A resonant bouquet, tied with a ribbon of sweet cannabis smoke.”
