The latest release on Michael A’s Genesis Music welcomes Nicolas Prieto to the label for his debut single.
The Argentinean artist owns a short but well kept discography, highlighted by an appearance on Jelly For The Babies ‘The Purr’ imprint last summer. A formidable DJ, Nicolas is quickly making his mark in the production world and now presents his most anticipated single to date alongside remixes from Monojoke and Robert R. Hardy.
Nicolas’ past releases have showed his penchant for crafting deep and groovy electronic music. His latest ‘The Wire Walker’ is a slice of progressive house heaven. Backed by a warm, full groove the track picks up quickly with lush pads, smooth chord changes and club friendly drums. Bouncy and emotive in all the right ways it flows like butter into the main break. The melodies come alive through variation as the centrepiece evolves, leading to a gorgeous drop and even more powerful third act. Beautifully crafted and definitely one you’ll want to tuck away for the summer season. Keep your eye on Nicolas this year, a talent on the rise no doubt.
Michael A always selects excellent remixers for Genesis releases and there are few better in the progressive world than Monojoke and Robert R. Hardy. First up Monojoke follows strong outings alongside his Fluente partner Tuxedo and delivers an epic interpretation. If there was ever a producer that defined the pure progressive house sound Monojoke would be quite high on the list. From his buoyant grooves to rolling drums and spacey sonics almost every production sounds tailor made for a Guy J set. His remix here is no different and likely one of his best in a while, effortless and epic all at once it’s a monster and also a wonderful complement to the original.
The release concludes with Robert R Hardy making his third appearance on the label. Now a regular in Beatport’s progressive house charts the Hungarian artist is also fresh off a great gig at the recent Progressive Astronaut party in London. As a core figure of the progressive movement Robert steps up big here once again with a stellar remix to close the release out. Deep and dubby yet still quite emotive it’s a smooth atmospheric take on the original. Radiant pads, drifting motifs and mild acid rhythms carry nicely into the break. Short and merely serving as an energy bridge the centrepiece shifts the momentum forward as the scaled down groove returns with a focus on Robert’s intricate drum work. Excellent remix from the Hungarian artist and a killer release from Michael A’s Genesis Music once again. Don’t miss it.
