What’s In Your Box: Quivver

With Quivver having new music out now on Baroque Records, we take a look at his favourite tracks of the moment in the latest edition of What’s In Your Box?

1. Russian Linesman – The Eysenck Suite 1 – Melancholic (Loki)

This is a mini-album of 7 tracks with flavours reminiscent of Ulrich Shnauss, James Holden and early M83. Not really aimed at the dancefloor but, as the title suggests, more of a melancholic soundtrack to life. Standout tracks are ‘How Can The Sky Be So Beautiful When We Have Been So Bad?, ‘Fauna, and ‘I Thought You Were a Legend Until You Apologized’.

2. Severin Su – Elephant Cry (Baile Remix) (Exotic Refreshment)

I listed this as #2 because it follows so poignantly from the aforementioned Russian Linesman – ‘How Can The Sky Be So Beautiful When We Have Been So Bad?’ – containing samples of Elephants, along with slightly sad sounding melodies, clearly a salute to one of Earth’s most majestic (and now almost extinct) creatures…

3. Emi Galvan – Nothing Less (Quivver Remix) (Baroque)

This is out now on the legendary Baroque Records. Solid drums, rumbling bass and some uplifting melodies combine for that contrast of darkness and light. Hope you all like it!

4. Eli & Fur – Wendy Legs (Anjunadeep)

Some nice deep-prog vibes, a moving bassline sprinkled with bright but moody melodies give this a slightly Olander-esque sound.

5. Then & Starkato – Sundance (Drunken Kong Remix) (Sprout)

A tasty conga groove bounces this track along with a prominent (maybe too prominent but I still love it) arpeggio synth line..

6. Justin Martin – Odyssey (Kyle Watson Remix) (Dirtybird)

Kyle Watson is carving out his own unique flavour of quirky Tech-House and it fits perfectly with Justin Martin’s already quirky sound. Love this!

7. Jose Nunez & Taina – Makes Me (Prok & Fitch Remix) (Subliminal)

Prok & Fitch doing what they do best – big, bouncy, dancefloor-destroying Tech-House with a cool, spoken-word vocal from Taina.

8. Daryln Vlys & Third Son – Orson (Upon You Records)

Dark, industrial sound effects spit all over heavy, slapping drums to give a seriously big result. Yes, spitting on slaps!

9. Ryan Murgatroyd – Kanna – (Get Physical)

A beautiful piano riff sets the tone for this fat yet mellow slice of delicious Deep House pie. Get yourself some!

10. Sian – Pause (Oliver Koletzki & Renier Zonneveld Remix) (Octopus)

A Solid, heads-down techno banger on one of my favourite labels. If you’re not nodding your head from the first bar of this, wash your ears out and listen again!

11. Jerome Isma-Ae and Alastor – Kubrick (Jee)

The always reliable Jerome Isma-Ae teams up with Alastor for this anthemic yet deep, ‘Proper Prog’ journey.
