Steve Bug Drops New EP ‘Grumble Bumble’

The two track release is out now via the Rejected record label.

Steve Bug is back on Joris Voorn’s Rejected with his sixth release for the record label.

His previous releases on Rejected have been made in collaboration with his regular production partner Cle, but this time Steve Bug is flying solo to deliver his two-track EP titled, Grumble Bumble.

Steve Bug is a stalwart of the German club scene who has played many international DJ sets and mixed compilation CDs for brands like Fabric. He is the label owner of Poker Flat, and along with releasing on his own imprint, his music can also be found on others ranging from Aus Music to Moon Harbour.

Whilst describing the movements and sounds of the opening track to perfection, ‘Grumble Bumble’, is also a title that can deceive. There are no tired, ageing shapes being thrown to this mid-noughties Pokerflat’esque soundtrack. Strobelight at the ready. Sweat on the walls, the warehouse is calling.

Beautifully countering the heads down stripped-back bounce of the A side, is the percussive and uplifting funk of ‘Get Away From Me’. Skipping along on jazzy rides and rim-shots, its menacing chords are pierced by synth stabs, claps and a silky vocal, to create a track that balances power and poise to perfection.
