The latest release on Superordinate Music welcomes Sergei Spatz to the label for his debut single.
The Russian artist has found a home on John Johnson’s 238W Inc. and Following Light’s Inmost Records. Only two years into his production career Sergei has shaped his own unique melodic sound and remains one of the underground’s brightest talents. Now for his much anticipated Superordinate debut he presents ‘Field Of Flower’ alongside remixes from Andres W and Dr. Avalance.
Sergei’s deep, chugging original leads the release off with a great vibe. It’s razor sharp synths cut through the atmosphere with an effortless flair while warm, mountains of bass pulsate with a fluid momentum. The Russian’s strong soulful hooks carry a wonderful musicality and converge for what is likely the strongest theme of his career, coming to full fruition after a well timed and perfectly executed break. Incredibly spacious and with creamy production qualities this is one you’ll want to enjoy several times over. Excellent work from a producer to keep a close eye the rest of this year.
Superordinate has done a great job selected the remixers on this project as both Andres W and Dr. Avalance are quite underrated and deliver something complementary to the original here. First up Andres W makes his Superordinate debut and takes the track into funkier territory with a reworked bass line, clattering drums and clusters of glassy keys. There’s a melancholic tone here which wasn’t in the original which makes for a nice alternative and a swirling, colourful finale is the icing on the cake. Great remix from Andres.
Closing the release out is Dr. Avalance who is also making his label debut following a great remix for Ivan Nikusev’s OLD SQL Recordings. For his ‘Field of Flower’ interpretation the Spanish producer has delivered a sleek vibe that’s quite a bit dubbier than the previous two mixes. The main motifs, although present have been reprocessed into something a touch more indistinct and mysterious sounding. It’s late night appeal is quite strong and it’s effortless flow makes you wish it was about 15 minutes long. Gorgeous remix from Dr. Avalance and another strong outing for the fast rising Superordiante Music. Don’t miss it.
