Sam WOLFE has become well known for his peak time techno releases on UMEK’s 1605.
Sam WOLFE has been on a roll these last few months with tracks and remixes coming thick and fast. He has delivered techno remixes of tracks by Markus Schulz and John O’Callaghan, alongside many original tracks on UMEK’s 1605.
His latest release is a two track EP on 1605 that features two solo originals by Sam WOLFE, each of them a fast-and-furious cut that has dark atmosphere and unstoppable energy. It could be argued that it’s a double A-side, but the EP is led by “Machine Driven” its title track.
Based in Atlanta, Sam WOLFE is an American artist who is already an established DJ within his home country and the success of his productions have been gaining him recognition across the globe. A recent collaboration with UMEK also gave his profile a boost, but he has also proven himself to be a talented solo producer, which makes this EP a perfect example of that.
Kickstarting the release, Machine Driven is a thundering techno track with a thickset bassline and slamming kick drum. Its tension building synths and fast-paced percussion ensure a peak time energy, and its spacey breakdown has a brief moment of euphoria before the onslaught continues.
“Hold On” is a totally different beat from its predecessor on this release, as it’s got a warehouse rave vibe with uplifting vocals and piano stabs that are layered with an acid synth line. It’s got a timeless sound that will no doubt become a regular part of many peoples DJ sets.
