Frankie Bones is an American artist who played a pivotal role in the development of the techno genre.
People with knowledge of techno’s history will know the genre was birthed in Detroit by Juan Atkins.
Once the popularity of techno had risen to a point where it was getting exposure in other American cities, Frankie Bones was one of the first people in New York to start playing techno focused DJ sets.
Not only did Frankie Bones play the records, but soon he started to produce his own tracks, and this was a landmark step that helped establish techno in America’s capital city.
Releasing records on influential labels he had many hit tracks including his iconic “Call It Techno” which was recently re-released on Carl Cox’s label Intec.
Following the success of that release, Frankie Bones is now back on the label with some new material made in collaboration with the UK’s Phutek.
Here at CU we have an exclusive premiere of “Killer Custard” which is the second track on the EP. Despite its tongue-in-cheek title, this is one serious track with pulsating synths, dramatic stabs and full-throttle energy.
