Police broke up a 300 person rave this weekend in the Butch region of Germany’s capital Berlin.
On Sunday, Police in the region announced that a witness had called the officers around 3 AM that morning. The witness reported they had seen numerous people entering and leaving the site of a decommissioned hospital.
Officers who arrived at the scene quickly gained entrance to the building where they met hundreds of people dancing to loud music. It’s estimated around 300 people were in attendance at the rave, which is a lot more than the police had initially expected.
Back up was called and officers went about putting a stop to the illegal party which broke COVID-19 lockdown laws.
Around half the guests at the illegal event made a speedy exit before the police back-up could arrive, but many decided to stay, and the police collected details of 157 who were also guilty of trespassing on top of breaking lockdown rules.
Police were in attendance until the early hours of the morning, and currently, it’s unknown how many of those 157 people caught will be prosecuted.
