Melbourne Opens Drive-Thru Vaccination Clinic

The city is still in lockdown, and the centre is the first of its kind in Australia.

The new vaccine centre hopes to speed up the vaccine rollout.

Melbourne is the location of the first drive-thru vaccination clinic in the state of Victoria, Australia.

Daniel Andrews is Premier of Victoria and he revealed the plans during the state’s daily coronavirus press conference on Sunday the 8th of August.

Until now, Victoria has been in its 6th statewide lockdown, but that comes to an end in some regions later today after only 11 new cases were recorded.

Talking about the new drive-through clinic, Daniel Andrews said: “We believe, that is Australia’s first drive-through vaccination clinic and I’m sure that will be very popular and busy also.”

Those wishing to get vaccinated at the drive-through need to book an appointment in advance, and will be screened for eligibility and symptoms on arrival. This new clinic is located at the former Bunnings site at 149 Barries Road in Melton, in Melbourne’s west.

It was also announced that from Monday the 9th of August, anyone aged 18 to 39 years old will now be able to get vaccinated at Victorian’s state-run vaccination centres.

Anyone wishing to make an appointment for the vaccination drive-through clinic, can do so HERE.
