The latest release on Mesmeric Records finds the label showcasing new remixes of the recently released ‘Rozaball’ from Luka Sambe.
Out just two weeks ago the Pryda-esque production enjoyed an extended stay in Beatport’s Progressive House Top 100 and was also selected as one of the Must Hear tracks for the week. Mesmeric now unveils the much anticipated remixes from Andre Sobota and Charlie May.
Charlie May productions have been few and far between the last several years. A few contributions to the Bedrock Ibiza album this past summer were certainly a highlight and now we get to hear more magic in his ‘Rozaball’ interpretation. The melodies from Luka’s original were big and boisterous but the UK artist has reshaped them into something more indistinct and hypnotic here. Charlie’s grooves are almost immediately recognizable and this one is as well. There’s a certain funk and charm about them which no one has ever been able to replicate, add to that the fragmented melodies and rolling hooks and there’s something quite irresistible happening here. That epic flair from the original does have its moment albeit in a totally different context and thus sits as a wonderful complement.
The second and final interpretation is provided by Mesmeric label artist Andre Sobota. The Brazilian producer was instrumental in the early years of Mesmeric and has played a huge role in the labels resurgence over the last year as well. Andre’s capable of pretty much anything, from the bolder, unabashedly epic productions for ZeroThree to darker more stripped, techno inspired material for Kunai and Sound Avenue. Here he opts for the former but with a smoother, more laid back vibe than Luka’s crushing original. If you like melodic music it’s damn hard not to like this, the effortless build and anthemic feel is worthy of several goose bump moments along the way and a piano laced breakdown followed by a warm, fluid third act ultimately seals it’s brilliance. Two gorgeous interpretations of an already great original results in an excellent remix EP from Mesmeric. Don’t miss it.
