Hamza Rahimtula and Rajasthan Folkstars bring some Indian fusion to the organic house scene with their new album, Origins.

The 10-track album is a brilliant and unique concept where traditional Indian musicians and vocalists team up with a house music DJ.

Hamza Rahimtula is the DJ behind the concept, and Rajasthan Folkstars are the musicians who have provided the Indian twist.

Origins builds on a live concept where Rajasthan Folkstars perform alongside Hamza Rahimtula, adding vocals and melodies to the music he plays in his DJ sets.

Expanding the concept for this album, the Rajasthan Folkstars have joined Hamza Rahimtula in the studio, and for the first time they have recorded music together.

Hamza Rahimtula was already a respected producer of Indian heritage, but the traditional vocals and instruments provided by the Rajasthan Folkstars have really exemplified the Indian influence within his music.

Sol Selectas is the record label putting this release out into the world, and the earthy percussion combined with the organic vocals and instruments ensure it fits with their trademark organic house sound.

It’s an album that deserves to be listened to in full, and it incorporates everything from minimal techno to disco. There is also some Latin flavour in a couple of the tracks, which adds to the cultural melting pot that makes this release so special.
