Ghenwa Nemnom is a Lebanese artist whose latest release titled ‘Story of a Battle’ merges modern classical with melodic house.
For those unfamiliar with Ghenwa Nemnom, she is a talented musician who has featured tracks on labels such as YION, Melody of the Soul, Café De Anatolia and Alt Orient. This latest release is the debut of her own record label called Astarte.
Astarte appears to be an imprint that’s aimed at giving Ghenwa Nemnom complete artistic freedom, as the original track, although epic, is certainly an acquired taste within the electronic music world.
Story of a Battle is very cinematic and makes use of oriental instruments that showcase Ghenwa Nemnom’s classically trained musicianship. There is a dramatic bass pad and a short percussive section that would fit nicely into a melodic house set, but in terms of DJ use, it’s very much an intro or outro track.
This doesn’t detract from its cinematic quality though and there will no doubt be some talented folks out there who do their own DJ edit, or use it as a tool to layer over something more percussive.
When it comes to the dance floor, it’s the Chris Zippel remix that will likely get most DJs excited, as he transforms the track into a deep and techy track with lots of percussion and some added synth parts.
Chris Zippel is an accomplished producer who within the electronic music scene, is known for his music on labels like Embassy One and this remix shows off his talents from transforming a track into a melodic house masterpiece.
