Paul Hazendonk’s MNL welcomes Fractal Architect back to the label for a brand single.
The UK artist has been a primary contributer to the Dutch imprint since his debut in August of 2014. Now making his fifth appearance Fractal Architect presents his latest single entitled ‘Floodplain’ alongside a remix from Idham.
Fractal Architect began his career known primarily as a melodic techno producer, but as time went on a lot of his work carried a more traditional progressive house sensibility. Of late we’ve seen a departure back to more techno inspired sounds and ‘Floodplain’ continues that trend. From its dark, wobbly beginnings the piece gradually works its way through icy effects and fresh electronics. Carried by a sinister lead synth, the piece really comes to life following the main break with a wealth of alien-like transmissions highlighting the top end making for a very heady and ultimately rewarding journey.
The lone interpretation is provided Idham who returns to the label for his third appearance. The Malaysian artist last appeared on the Dutch imprint with his ‘Karar / Badai’ double a-side EP and also owns releases on 3rd Avenue and Proton’s Particles. Here he takes ‘Floodplain’ into groovier and decidedly more progressive minded territory with a tight framework and lovely melodic motifs. Leading into the second act, smooth chord changes bring an emotive vibe before a stunning choir initiates the main break, delivering a brief but powerful moment that your dance floor will certainly appreciate. Excellent remix from Idham which rounds out another top notch offering from Paul Hazendonk’s MNL imprint. Don’t miss it.
