Synthetik Sounds is a dark and driving techno label with analogue textures and hypnotic rhythms, and its debut release is from Indonesian artist Ecilo.
Eclio has already showcased his talent on other record labels including ARTS, Planet Rhythm and Jeff Mills’ iconic imprint Axis. Still relatively early in his career, but already with the seal of approval from the likes of Jeff Mills, this latest offering from Ecilo is yet further testament to his exceptional talent.
The five-track EP has been curated by the 6AM publication that run Synthetik Sounds, and it’s an impressive debut from the label. Setting a high standard with its opening statement, it’s already building anticipation for what’s to follow.
“Linear Groove” is the EP’s opening track, and it’s got a menacing vibe with rippling synths that are layered with high-velocity percussion. “Maschtrack” is second on the release, and its bleeping melody is fused with ticking percussion and rumbling sub-bass to create an immersive groove filled with intensity.
“Pitched Loop Mode” marks the EP’s halfway point with its murky atmosphere cut by flittering bursts of melody and thrashing high-end percussion, while the kick pushes the track forwards at breakneck speeds.
“Protech the Skyline” is the release’s title track, and it’s got a dystopian vibe with industrial sounds and dramatic eruptions that send shivers of excitement down the listener’s spine while the fast-flowing percussion carries the groove.
“Stripped & Trip” closes out the release with a minimalist groove that has squelching synths and rattling percussion submerged in deep atmospherics.
