Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Drops New Single ‘Forever’

Out now, the track is taken from his forthcoming album, When the Lights Go.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs is a Grammy-nominated artist, known for his releases on labels such as Ninja Tune and Crosstown Rebels.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs shares his new single ‘Forever’ ahead of his sophomore album When the Lights Go, which will be released on September 9th through via his new label, Nice Age.

There has always been something personal and universal about Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs music. Inhabiting a push-pull of outwardly facing dance-floor fillers and introspective heartfelt storytelling, Orlando’s new single ‘Forever’ expands this dichotomy further.

Following recent highlights ‘Blood In Snow’, ‘The Sleeper’ and current BBC 6 Music A List single ‘Crosswalk’, new track ‘Forever’ is a contemplative love song that steers to the dancefloor from basking in moments of wistful reflection. Twinkling keys are punctuated by plaintive chords as Orlando transforms emotionally resonant melodies and gauzy melancholy into progressive electronica. Across its succinct, four-and-a-half minutes ‘Forever’ like its predecessors, transports listeners across the shimmering sounds and sentiments echoed throughout Orlando’s forthcoming album.

New album When the Lights Go is substantial, spanning 17 tracks and compiling the ups and downs of a decade between both albums. “I feel grateful to know that there are people who are interested in more music from me. So I want to give them something significant in length,” explains Orlando. This very intimate offering is a statement of intent from Orlando and encompasses themes relating to past romantic relationships, as well as broader topics such as mental health, the patriarchal system and climate change.

Since the release of Trouble 10 years ago, Orlando toured the globe, settled in LA for seven years, worked behind-the-scenes producing for a range of top-tier acts, and earned himself a Grammy nomination in 2020 for his collaboration with Bonobo – ‘Heartbreak’. Most recently Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs wrapped the ‘I Have A Dream’ Club Tour, delighting fans with his dynamic DJ Sets at iconic venues across the globe.

For Orlando, When the Lights Go is where the troubles of the past come to an end. Life has offered a myriad of twists and turns, his response to the pain is a shift into positive energy, the 17 track release being the catalyst. When the Lights Go will be available on limited edition double 12” gatefold blue vinyl with a printed insert.
