The 2021 edition of the DMC World Championships has been announced.

DMC World Championships is an iconic competition that brings together the most talented scratch DJs and turntablists from around the world. It’s sponsored by Technics, and has been running since 1985.

This will be the 36th edition of the annual event, and it follows the success of the last year’s online edition, which couldn’t happen in-person due to the pandemic.

2021’s event will also be held online, and talking to DJ Times, DMC Founder, Tony Prince said that “rather than shrink into the COVID shadows“, the organisers had been working hard to create new competition events and categories for another online edition.

Tony Prince continued to say: “With travel and continuing social restrictions in the way, we have gathered our sponsors to ensure that you can be faced with challenges to stretch your talents and originality and build your global reputation,” Prince said. “The companies who have long serviced the World’s DJs with new technology are right by your side.

“The 2021 schedule will lead to new titles in many different formats with which we hope you can have creative fun, win prizes and titles and go on to conquer the world! Eventually this year we will arrive at the 2021 DMC World DJ Championship. The list of previous winners is long and magnificent, and so it will continue to be! Alongside the competition events, the programming also includes DJ panels and product workshops. There is also going to be a segment on the history of the DMC, alongside a new watch along commentary, where judges and champions comment live on the competition.

The competition dates are spread between April and December, and all the DJ competitions are free to enter for any DJ, of any age, from anywhere.
