Modd are an unknown quantity to some yet regarded by those in the know as some of finest producers in their field; Nick Warren being one of their biggest fans.
Guys, tell us about you
Modd: Hello C-U, our names are Stanislav and Vladimir.
Vladimir (V): I’m 35 now, and I started DJing in 2005,
Stanislav (S): I’m 29 and got into music in 2009 – it was in 2015 that we decided to start a project together.
What made you get in to dance music?
S: Well it’s not like something really made us into the music, it was all natural. We both were working for the same 2500 capacity night club back then in 2009, Vladimir as a light designer and I was there playing as a resident. It’s there that we met and it turned out our tastes for music were vey much alike and so different from those of other DJs so we soon became friends.
Where was your first gig?
V: It was the same year we met that there was the first thought of starting a project together but it came true only in 2015 when we finally got together and launched our Modd project.
Modd: Our first gig was at Dom Pechati in Ekaterinburg (Russia) by Sverdlovsky Deep promoter. It’s a place reminding Area 17 venue in Moscow, with a really unique atmosphere and people who love and know good music, lighting, sound, everything is perfect.
How difficult was learning to produce for you in the beginning?
S: It’s always difficult to start from nowhere, no matter what you do. The main thing is to believe in what you do, try as hard as you can and have enough strengths and patience to go through everything.
Talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.
V: It’s a release out on Akbai Music 29th September. We do love being outside with the nature so probably it is the strongest source for inspiration. There’s nothing better then being in silence by the view of a beautiful lake or a river.

What’s the music scene like where you live and how often are you playing?
S: We like the European scene. We live in Volzhsky (Volgograd region), where we don’t really play that often as the music style we play is only now getting popular unlike Europe – our management is getting a lot of inquiries from there these days!
Which other DJs or producers are you liking right now?
Modd: Lost Dessert, Gorje Hewek & Izhevski. These are really close to us with their sound and style.
What are your go to labels?
Modd: We don’t have this aim to get released on as many labels as possible – thus we’d lose our exclusivity. We prefer those labels we have friendly relations with and that release music close to the sound we produce – and you know there’s not that many of them!Tell us about your DJ setup
What can we expect from you soon
V: A lot of touring, new releases and magic sound people call DREAMY!
