The latest release on One Of A Kind finds the label presenting a fresh collaboration from Desaturate, Chamae and Mobo.
The Serbian imprint began the year with an amazing single from Sound Avenue’s Madloch. Now they follow that up in style with a first ever collaboration from Desaturate, Chamae and Mobo.
Hailing from Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia respectively; Desaturate, Chamae and Mobo have come together for the ultimate meeting of musical minds. ‘Ulenspiegel’ is quite a unique track, sitting comfortably between techno and progressive, it flows through a variety of trippy and musically inspired motifs. Backed by a rolling groove the core of the track has a smooth, meditative drive which carries it with ease into a short, timely and well crafted break. No massive fanfare here just a smooth, cinematic style interlude which makes for a seamless transition into a third act with firing percussion and pulsating lines. Nicely done.
The first remix comes from Mobo who brings a slighter tougher approach while still retaining all the great themes from the original. The intro is epic, clocking in at over two minutes and when the drifting atmospheres get washed away the kick drops for a big moment. The break, while short brings the melodies into the spotlight and foreshadows a more musical third act finale. Not a huge departure from the original but a great complement.
The release concludes with Vomee making his label debut following releases on Be Free Recordings and D-edge Records. The Italian artist’s melodic techno vision makes for an excellent contrast to the previous two mixes and perhaps sits as his career best production thus far. Luminous melodies lead the way along with fresh electronics and neatly tailored percussion, all backed by the rolling groove. The third act proves epic with emo-overlays that deliver the most poignant and goosebump worthy moments on the EP. Great remix from Vomee and a top notch release from One of A Kind. Don’t miss it.
