We caught up with Warung and D-Edge resident BLANCAh, who’s originality exposes the real lack of depth and artistry across many of the global elite right now.

Where are you based and how did you get connected with Berlin based label Steyoyoke? What’s your role there?

Hi, first of all, thank you so much for the opportunity to talk with you guys. My base is in my hometown, Florianópolis, Brazil. During the year I spend a few months in Europe working and doing shows, in these moments my base becomes Berlin. I met Steyoyoke when Soul Button came to play in my town a few years ago. We became friends on that occasion and that’s where it all began.

How would you describe your sound and philosophy toward the music you play, for those that are not aware of it? We noticed you’re a fan of poetry. Are you seeing music differently to others?

My music is completely emotional. I often say that getting people moving is easy, a well-built beat makes people move naturally. But to put people in emotional “feeling”, spiritually bonded and connected to your music is a more difficult task, and this is what I want. The music I play and produce varies between Melodic Techno, triphop, downtempo, but honestly I do not like defining and labelling what I do. When I’m asked what kind of music I play I just say, “It’s music! Close your eyes, listen and feel.” Also I do not define myself as a DJ; I’m an Artist. There are many DJs around… but artists are few. It is important to know the difference between one thing and another.

Talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.

My new EP is called Apneia and has two original songs with three beautiful remixes signed by D-Formation, Glenn Morrison and Binayh. Whenever I sit to produce music I like to impose challenges to myself, I like to exercise my skills as a producer and improve them. I never stopped studying production. In this EP I tried to create songs that were more functional for the dance floor, going to a more techno side. That was my motivation and inspiration to do Apneia.

What made you decide to sign with Timeless Moment? How important do you feel the imprint is in the Brazil and what’s your view of where the label is heading?

I spent some time studying the label, seeing their way to work before accepting the invitation. I have noticed a lot of professionalism on their part regarding the promotion, feedbacks, and consistency and quality of the releases. Only after convincing me of all this did I accept the invitation. it is very important to release our songs with labels that will give us the necessary support in every way. From the choice of artists who will remix our songs, the quality of the final master and the promotion plan. For me Timeless Moment is the best label in Brazil today because it covers all the basic requirements, and they are on a super professional level.

What’s been your biggest achievement so far?

Every step on my journey is an achievement, from the smallest to the greatest. This is a constant journey and all steps are important. Since my first release there in 2014, until today I only succeeded and every day as an achievement. Today I play frequently, I am a resident of the two main clubs in Brazil, D-Edge and Warung. I have a discography that fills me with pride: I released EPs and an album, I received beautiful remixes of electronic music legends like Hernan Cattaneo and Audio Junkies, D-Formation, Glenn Morrison, Nick Devon, Petar Dundov, Kris Davis just to name a few. I just have to celebrate my career so far, and I am sure that this is just the beginning.

Talk to us about the music scene like where you’re based. Where’s hot, who are the big names locally and how often are you playing?

I’m based on the Underground scene, this is a small but united scene. In it I see many people working with love. I play every weekend practically around my country and around the world. I think that today the big names in Brazil are Anna, Gui Boratto and Victor Ruiz.

Tell us about your DJ setup when you’re performing

I use traktor with two x1 and one f1, plus my vocoder and microphone.

What are you goals for the future and do you have any other things planned that you want to share?

Now i am preparing a new album and planning a show to present it and go with it.
