Bicep are playing in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney in addition to festivals including Beyond the Valley.
Bicep are a Belfast, Northern Ireland duo who took the world by storm with their 2017 self-titled album on the highly influential record label, Ninja Tune.
They were already well respected on the underground music scene before the release of that album, but that album took things to the next level, as the album’s popularity also opened them up to a mainstream audience.
They will be performing live at Australian festivals including Beyond the Valley, Field Day and Wildlands. They are also playing headline shows at the Forum in Melbourne on January 3, Tivoli in Brisbane on January 6 and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on January 10.
It’s been a few years since Bicep last played in Australia and since then they also released their 2021 follow-up album on Ninja Tune titled ‘Isles’.
Isles has been another big success for the Belfast duo and this tour will be the first time any of the new album’s tracks will have been played live on Australian soil.
It’s especially exciting as Bicep have been working on a new live show, which they told the NME about at the 2021 BRIT Awards, saying they had been readying a “full, big audio-visual live show” that was “quite bespoke”. Ferguson elaborated: “We actually have had the time to work on it: amazing screens, synced visuals, but also playing it completely live. We’ve spent the past year just trying to program it so it’s actually performed live, and make everything as fluid as possible.”
