Six venues ran parties for guests who tested negative for COVID-19.
Recently a pilot was carried out in Germany’s capital Berlin where six clubs were allowed to open their indoor area to run test events. A total of 2,110 people attended the parties, and around 70% did a voluntary PCR test afterwards to look for new infections.
This happened more than a week ago, and the Senate Culture Administration and the Berlin Club Commission announced on August 17th that 1,447 people came back with negative results. The official statement saying that: “All follow-up tests were negative.”
Those who took part in the pilot scheme had to get a negative COVID-19 test result, and then they were allowed to party in six nightclubs, where neither social distancing or mask wearing was required. During this process, only seven COVID–19 cases were detected, and of the seven people who tested positive, three are said to have been “old cases, with more than ten days of infection in the past”.
The remaining four cases were new infections, and of those, one tested person had already been fully vaccinated with both jabs.
Pamela Schobeß is from Berlin’s Club Commission, and giving a statement about the tests, she said: “Even if we would rather do without this effort: The project offers a real perspective for the opening of club interiors, should the incidences and hospitalizations rise sharply in the autumn”
