Anja Schneider is one of the most influential electronic music artists in the world.
Her career spans well over a decade and during that time she has been a radio broadcaster and label owner in addition to her many accomplishments as a DJ and producer.
Anja Schneider’s defunct radio show ‘Dance Under The Blue Moon” was one of the most famous electronic music broadcasts in her native Germany. Currently, she hosts a weekly show on Berlin’s Radio Eins called ‘Club Room’ which has seen her reign continue as queen of the airwaves.
She also co-founded the iconic Mobilee Records before setting up her new label Sous Music, and has released her remixes and original material on others imprints ranging from Moon Harbour to Diynamic.
Many know her best for her incredible DJ sets at clubs and festivals all over the world, and we are super excited to reveal this extended 3 hours and 33 minutes DJ set recorded exclusively for Flow Sessions.
In addition to recording the mix, she also took the time to answer a few questions about the podcast and her forthcoming schedule…
Thanks for recording us a podcast, could you describe the vibe/energy were you trying to capture with your track selection?
Oh, I loved the idea to do a 3,5 hr mix and felt the same energy as playing an extended set where I set the musical tone of the party. I tried to capture all the moods of a regular night out, creating a distinct beginning and working towards a climax at the end.
What’s your favourite track in the mix, and did you play any of your own music?
I would say my favourite track was the new Matrefakt record – they are an act I support a lot and have released on my label Sous Music. I love their style and groovy attitude. Their music is always making me dance. I also included two tracks of my own – my last release on Sous Music “Turning My Head” and my Remix of Mindchatter “Referees Don’t Fall In Love” which came out just last week on Mind Of A Genius.
Talking of your own tracks, what’s new in your release schedule, as we would love to know more about your new music?
Right now I am working on a new release with an incredible vocalist, Sophie Hunger, which will be out in the summer. I also just finished a remix for Robert Armani.
What do you think would be the perfect setting for someone to listen to your mix, and why do you think that would be the best place?
Oh, it can be a perfect start to a fun night with a lovely dinner, good wine, nice talks and getting into a rhythm and hope you will jump all over the place. Hopefully, it’s ending romantic and sexy.
Who is your personal favourite DJ, and how have they influenced your own style?
My favourite DJ is DJ Koze. Always and forever. He mixed so many different styles, he is funny, and for me the most talented producer and DJ.
Do you have a message for your fans or anything else you want to add?
I would for my music to love to help you through these difficult times. Here in Berlin we are still in lockdown and the sun is coming out and it feels strange. WE all want to have our lives back with simple things like hanging out with friends and hugging each other. I hope the music I choose can make you smile for a while.
