Edu Imbernon returns to “Suara” with another top notch release that really sets the cats amongst the pigeons.

For those who don’t know much about “Suara“ read our interview with DJ/Artist/label boss “Coyu”.  Suara is a leading force in club music, and regularly showcases some of the biggest and best loved artists in the scene.  The label shares a love for everything house, techno, tech house and also those little fury animals called “Cats”.

Edu Imbernon’s original is probably best described as a mix between deep & progressive house with an 80’s twinge. It starts off with filtered type percussion then soon building into a fat but warm sounding kick drum. A few transient gated synths are introduced that are very reminiscent of the “Edu Imbernon” track titled “Storm”.  An 80’s style bass line is introduced and shortly followed by an even more 80’s sounding vocal which is very “Depeche Mode” esque. The track continues to building around the vocal with some moody acidic parts, reverb string rises to take you to a breakdown. The breakdown features some stabby type dark chords to add an extra dimension before building back to the 80’s vibe.

Over all it’s a quality vocal affair with a deep mood about it. It’s quite instant which suits radio as well as the clubs and is contagious without being obvious / anthemic.

The dub mix follows the same theme as the original but with less vocal. I’m keen to point out that it’s more than just an instrumental version. It’s also arranged differently and will have an appeal for those who like to let the sounds do the talking.

Finally we have the “Dubspeeka” remix. This instantly kicks off with tougher edged drums. The kick drum is almost a distorted sound with layered shuffle hats over the top and a deep bass that makes it sound quite bouncy. There’s a great bleepy arpeggiator sound that gives it an electronic feel while backed a distant synth stab to aid the funkiness. This mix is all about the groove with every sound tightly knitted into the vibe of the drums & bass. It morphs in and out of different phases with the vocals introduced and some new synthy elements…but maintains groove throughout.

Overall another quality release from Edu Imbernon which should keep the “Suara” cats jumping. 8.5/10
