Renaissance Records is an electronic music record label that’s become an institution for melodic house and techno.
Originally linked to the UK nightclub of the same name, Renaissance Records was founded in 1994, and has released tracks and mix compilations by artists ranging from John Digweed and Sasha, to Deep Dish.
With nearly two decades of releases in its back catalogue, the imprint has become a right of passage for many aspiring producers who are breaking onto the international scene.
Following recent EP’s from genre leaders such as Argy, Sebastien Leger and UNDERHER, the latest Renaissance Records release is a four-track mixed artist EP that showcases some fresh talent currently making waves.
The release titled Merin EP Vol.2 features solo tracks by A Friend of Marcus and Talal, along with two collaborations between Greg Ignatovich and Alexandros Djkevingr, plus Chris Gavin, Gabriel I.
All four of the tracks are exceptional, but A Friend of Marcus’ really stood out to us as the highlight on the EP. Based in Australia, he is a regular at many of the country’s underground festivals, and has previously released tracks and remixes on Booka Shade’s Blaufield Music and Sasha’s Last Night On Earth.
His track “Cepish” is a downtempo track with breakbeat rhythms and ethereal synths that create a spine-tingling atmosphere. Building suspense with its hypnotic groove and uplifting mood, it’s the perfect set opener or something special to switch up the vibe.
