Australia is one of the world’s countries that currently has a COVID-19 rate low enough to run events.
Melbourne based club XE54 closed the doors of its four-room Southbank space in early 2020, but the organisers have announced they will in March be taking over Saturday nights at CBD venue The Bottom End.
The team behind the club will launch XE 2.0 at The Bottom End, which is a long-running, multi-level location at Little Collins St that has a 24-hour license.
In addition to upgrading the sound system, they have also added neon strip lighting similar to what was installed at XE54, which will help create a familiar vibe for clubbers who remember the old venue space.
It’s been confirmed that there will be three rooms playing music including DJs playing in the food area, alongside the main room of house and techno, plus a second room focused mainly towards disco.
Some COVID-19 restrictions are in place, but once those are relaxed, there are plans to also make use of the fourth room.
XE54’s Monty McGaw said that: “We will be placing our focus on Australian artists in the opening months, many of whom we are lucky to have home from their international touring circuit due to the current climate.” Lineup details for the March 6th launch are expected in the coming days.
It sounds like this is a another positive moment for our Australian friends who are lucky enough to be spending their weekends dancing into the small hours.
