Maya Jane Coles Drops New Single ‘Freefall’

Featuring the vocals of Moxie Knox and remixes by ZeroFG & Ruff Style, the release is out via her I/AM/ME imprint.

Maya Jane Coles is one of the most accomplished electronic music artists of this generation.

Maya Jane Coles returns to her own I/AM/ME imprint with the dark, stripped-back roller ‘Freefall’ featuring alluring R&B singer-songwriter Moxie Knox. The single releases with accompanying remixes by ZeroFG & Ruff Style.

Building on her sonic signature, ‘Freefall’’s central focus is the beautiful and haunting vocal work from Moxie. Held up by a growling, fuzzy bassline and delicate drum work, ‘Freefall’ stands at the precipice of functional club and easy-listening headphone music. The single gets a UK Garage rework by mysterious producer ZeroFG who also flips the script with a second remix under his alias Ruff Style. Undoubtedly one of the brightest and most passionate talents to emerge in the last decade in electronic music, ‘Freefall’ follows Maya’s April 2022 Voicebox EP under her techno alias CAYAM.

Talking about the release, Maya Jane Coles said: “Moxie’s vocals were a dream to work with, definitely one of my favourite tracks I’ve worked on this year! ZeroFG didn’t disappoint with the remixes, especially the one under his Ruff Style alias which is my personal favourite!”

Winner of numerous awards, British-Japanese Maya Jane Coles has proven herself internationally as an artist, producer, songwriter and DJ of note. Somewhat of an enigma; on a typical Maya Jane Coles record, Maya will have written, produced, engineered, arranged, mixed and performed every element of the track; sometimes top-lining and, on many occasions, even designing the sleeve artwork too. Maya is no overnight success, but rather someone who has been paying their dues and honing their craft for years.

Moxie’s richly textured sound and the depth of her vocal tone make the track something extra special and ensure this track is a future classic in the making.
