Seminal electronic artist, DJ and producer Maceo Plex releases two new remixes of Faithless – ‘Insomnia’.
Originally released in 1995, Insomnia has become one of Faithless’ most successful and much-loved tracks, still finding its way into the record boxes of DJs across the globe today. Topping the UK Dance Chart and placing at number 3 in the UK Singles Chart following a re-release in ‘96, Insomnia also soared to the top of Charts in Finland, Norway, and Switzerland, as well as the American and Canadian Dance Charts. Maceo Plex adds a brooding and driving undertone across both the Epic Mix and Dub Mix, culminating in a powerful new direction to the original. Insomnia is Maceo Plex’s second official remix for Faithless, which follows his 2020 rework of Synthesizer (feat. Nathan Ball), taken from their long-awaited seventh studio album, All Blessed.
“Maceo delivers a brooding summer sizzler perfectly distilling the moody vibe of our original, ready to detonate every dance floor – in – waiting, and boy have we been waiting!” – Sister Bliss, Faithless
The new remixes from Maceo Plex mark his return to Ministry of Sound, following his 2019 single, ‘When the Lights Are Out.’
An artist who has crafted a remarkably impressive discography of productions, notably full of official remixes for artists including Coldcut, Röyksopp, GusGus, DJ T, Maribou State, Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction, Faithless, New Order, Chromatics and more, Maceo Plex is also the figurehead behind the underground label, Ellum Audio. Having released four studio albums, mix compilations for London’s fabric and !K7’s DJ-Kicks series, along with productions under his Mariel Ito and Maetrik aliases, Maceo Plex has curated several BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix’s and graced the cover of many a magazine from Mixmag to DJ Mag.
