The 67th release on Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint finds the label revisiting Kieran J’s ‘Wave Therapy’ with a brand new set of remixes.
Originally released in December of 2014, it was the lead piece on the Irish producer’s critically acclaimed debut EP for the Belgian imprint. Now 18 months on Sound Avenue invites Dmitry Molosh and Hot TuneiK to update the track for the 2016 spring and summer season.
The release begins by welcoming Dmitry Molosh back to the label for his third appearance. The Belarus based artist has been one of 2016’s hottest progressive house producers. Releases on Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records and Cid Inc’s Replug Records have showcased Dmitry’s finest ever work and that momentum continues here with a superb rendition of ‘Wave Therapy’. It’s no wonder Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J have been quick to champion his work, with an uncanny sense of rhythm and groove Dmitry harnesses all the brilliance of the original in a modern day progressive context. Anchored by a swing heavy groove and hypnotic percussion there’s a meditative vibe running through it from the outset. Ethereal overlays descend over the framework bringing an emotive tone to the first act before cosmic sweeps initiate the main break. As the storyboard evolves, soulful vocal wails trail through the interlude preceding an ascension of keys and clustered claps for the ultimate dance floor moment. Massive remix from Dmitry.
The second and final interpretation of ‘Wave Therapy’ finds Diego Carreón aka Hot TuneiK returning to the label for his third appearance. The Mexican artist and Hookah Records boss made his Sound Avenue debut with an appearance on Madloch’s 01 CD and quickly followed that up with a contribution to the label’s ‘Spring Sampler 2016’. Additional appearances on Manual Music and Inlab Recordings have solidified Hot TuneiK as one of Mexico’s hottest new production talents and that momentous wave continues here with a great interpretation of ‘Wave Therapy’. With a deeper approach Diego has delivered the perfect complement to Dmitry’s interpretation while also adding his own emotive flair to the production. It’s elastic groove builds a wonderful flow, while clattering metallic’s and sleek synth swells initiate the main break. Poignant pianos highlight the tracks centrepiece as the soul drenched vocal washes over the atmosphere. With a smooth build the kick drops to an electrified air, taking you on a journey into the spiritual heavens. A career best remix from Hot TuneiK and one which closes the release out on a strong note. A superb remix edition from Sound Avenue. Don’t miss it.
