GHEIST are a German melodic house/techno duo that have released on labels such as Diynamic and Mobilee Records.
Following the global success of their opening two singles on Embassy One in 2022 – Losing Game and Only – the inexhaustible German trio now continues its prolific run of form on the Berlin-based imprint, inaugurating the New Year in emphatic fashion with the release of its latest musical project, Gravity EP.
Featuring three gripping and diverse originals that entertain some of their finest iterations of melodic techno and vocal electronica to date, the Gravity EP marks another extraordinary showcase in cutting-edge electronic music from GHEIST, whose career has been filled with countless standout releases on leading labels including Embassy One, Diynamic, Last Night On Earth, Stil Vor Talent and their very own RADAU imprint, to name a few.
The first cut, Gravity, is bona fide dancefloor gold. Arguably the most upfront track on the package, the epic six-minute title track sees GHEIST breathe a vivacious melodic energy into the instrumental opener, as they piece together a mesmerising concoction of analogue instrumentation and forward-thinking production techniques to noteworthy effect. An expressive record, focussed around deep synth refrains and effervescent four-four beats, GHEIST’s unique sonic trademark is placed front and centre, as they pull out all the stops with another blockbuster hit.
Next up is You Need To Understand – a more restrained offering, but one that still manages to showcase GHEIST’s ability to inject undeniable emotion into their mellower compositions. A powerful vocal single underpinned by elongated chord progressions, ethereal samples and an infectious top line, GHEIST demonstrate their undeniable song-writing credentials across the middle order, as they provide the perfect bridge between Gravity and the impending finale.
Last, but by no means least, we’re graced with GHEIST’s euphoric closing number, River. A heady offering of shuffling, broken beats and shimmering synths, the three-man production outfit rounds out the EP with a captivating blend of warped melodies, muted vocal samples and intricate, syncopated rhythms. The perfect ending to their first multi-track release in over two years, the Berlin-based outfit’s impressive diversity shines across the player, as they drop one of their most absorbing offerings to date.
