Geju is a duo that has been releasing downtempo and organic tracks since 2016 and has featured on genre-leading record labels such as Sol Selectas, Bar 25 Music and Leveldva.
Their new release is a seven-track album that showcases the darker side to their sound with its moody atmosphere and brooding tension. Trippy and filled with lots of flowing percussion it will still appeal to fans of their sound, as its downtempo grooves are captivating and full of splendour.
The release comes via Kiosk I.D. which is a record label linked to Berlin’s highly respected nightclub Kater Blau. Geju has featured on Kiosk I.D. in the past, but this is their first time contributing more than a remix or track to a compilation.
All of the tracks are stripped back with lots of space for the atmospherics to create mystical vibes with eerie tension. After the trippy vocals of the first track, the release starts to get psychedelic with lots of intricate sounds that swirl around the track to create a chilling atmosphere.
Each track has lots of different percussive textures that are sequenced into busy rhythms with offbeat energy that lifts the energy in contrast to the slow tempo.
There is a consistency of sound that runs through the release and ties the tracks together so the album twists and turns to keep the listener locked in from start to finish.
